Last weekend I went on a hike in Anza-Borrego Desert with my friend Ryan. We checked out the slot canyons and explored mud caves out in Arroyo Tapiado and Arroyo Seco del Diablo, it was a blast. Although the temperatures were over 100 degrees out there, we still managed to have a great time. The caves were awesome, I only wish we had more time and energy to explore them all.¬†We could have easily spent all day going through each twist and turn throughout the dark caves, but we had somewhat of a schedule to stay on. The first afternoon it looked like it was going to pour on us, but luckily the rain kept it’s distance and we stayed dry. We hiked about 12 miles and set up camp for the night. After we made camp, we indulged in a meal of pasta and Zatarain’s rice. I remember thinking how badly I could go for an ice cold beer. The sunset was pretty epic and then we passed out in the 90 degree heat. We walked the remaining 4 miles during the morning trying to beat the afternoon heat. The sandstone canyon walls soared over our heads like skyscrapers. I had never seen anything like that in person. The desert has a different type of beauty than I am used to. Thankfully we made it back to the car and were enjoying some cold beers and grilled cheeses in town by noon. Overall an awesome trip and I can’t wait to get back out there and explore some more.

I’ve decided that I should read more, so I started this book. Lots of words, no pictures. It’s kind of a big deal.
